Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme helps businesses that have been disrupted due to the coronavirus. It helps to support businesses by paying up to 80% of the employees’ salaries and the employer just has to pay the NI and employer pensions contributions, and they can top the wages up to 100%.
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme is open to all businesses across the UK and covers up to a maximum of £2,500 per month per employee. Employers have to claim monthly for the scheme and pay their employees through their normal payroll. The scheme offers flexibility to use it for any amount of time and shift pattern including full-time furlough.

Coronavirus Bounce Back Loan Scheme is designed for small to medium-sized UK businesses that have been adversely affected by the coronavirus. Businesses are required to have been established before March 2020 and not be classified as being in difficulty at the end of 2019.
Coronavirus Bounce Back Loan Scheme offers loans up to 25% of the business turnover from £2,500 to £50,000. The loan is backed by the government at 100% and the loan has no interest for the first year. After the first year, the loan rate will be 2.5% a year. You can apply again if you haven’t borrowed up to your maximum loan amount.

3. Coronavirus Business Interruption Support Scheme

You will need to show you have been adversely impacted by the coronavirus.
Coronavirus Business Interruption Support Scheme offers loans up to £5 million over terms of three years for overdrafts and invoice finance, and six years for loans and asset finance. Loans are backed by the government at 80% and the interest is paid for you for the first year.

Coronavirus Future Fund is a government loan scheme that aims to support businesses that are having financial issues due to the coronavirus. To be eligible your business must have been incorporated in the UK before 2020, raised at least £250,000 from third-party equity investment, and not be traded publicly, as well as having at least 50% of employees and revenues in the UK.
Coronavirus Future Fund offers loans between £125,000 to £5 million to companies that are innovative and can provide at least equally matched funding from private investors. It is designed for those that can’t access any of the other government support programmes and rely on equity funding.

5. Coronavirus Self-Employment Income Support Scheme

Coronavirus Self-Employment Income Support Scheme is designed to assist the self-employed and partnership businesses that can’t access the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. It is offered to all self-employed and partnerships that have been adversely affected by the coronavirus who were trading in both tax years of 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Coronavirus Self-Employment Income Support Scheme offers 80% of your average monthly trading profits to a maximum of £7,500 per quarter. The scheme is claimed quarterly online and is a non-repayable grant that is subject to tax and NI. It is open to new claimants and continued claims, although if you weren’t eligible previously you still won’t be.

6. Kickstart Scheme

- Aids young people aged 16-24 on Universal Credit

Kickstart Scheme helps to get more young people aged 16-24 on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment into job placements to increase their employability. The businesses providing the job placements will receive £1,500 funding to help set up and develop the young person.
Kickstart Scheme covers 100% of the National Minimum Wage for the placement for 25 hours per week for six months as well as employer NI and employer automatic enrolment pension contributions. There are two routes into this scheme which are for employers taking on more than 30 placements and those taking on less than 30 placements who should apply through the Kickstart gateway.

It is open to employers that have under 250 employees and had a PAYE payroll scheme before March 2020. You can claim up to two weeks but requires evidence which doesn’t need to be a doctor’s note but an isolation note from NHS 111 or a shielding note or letter from the doctor.

8. VAT Deferral

VAT Deferral helps businesses with their cash flow by deferring their VAT due and allowing them to pay in instalments over the next year. These instalments are designed to be manageable monthly instalments from two to 11 payments.
The next VAT Deferral is open in early 2021 for businesses to opt into and will require the first payment to be made by the end of March 2021 and the final payment by the end of March 2022. It requires you to be able to pay by Direct Debit. They advise that you update your VAT account and submit any outstanding VAT returns for previous years before opting in.

To be eligible the business needs to pay business rates and not have changed their business since the restrictions came in and only one grant is allowed per non-domestic property.
